Johnsons' Meadow Vandalism

The Parish Council has been aware of vandalism occurring in Johnsons' Meadow (between Woodhouse Eaves and Old Woodhouse) since the Autumn. The landowners displayed signs to make the public aware that the meadows are now designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). Following this some temporary barriers were erected to discourage the use of an informal footpath across the meadow (not to be confused with the officially designated footpaths).

In the December 2020 Parish meeting the Parish Council condemned any individuals damaging the landowner's property. Following contact with Natural England and Leicestershire County Council, the Council understand that the Landowner is well within their rights to erect fencing to limit public use of the informal path.

The landowner has advised the Parish Council that the police have been informed and they have made contact with those allegedly involved.
